SeaSkills Training Courses - Inland Waterways Training Courses
Practical courses run every month, and dates can be arranged on-demand and often at short notice.

SeaSkill’s motor cruising programme is for those wanting to start cruising, or to expand their cruising knowledge. It encourages high standards of seamanship and navigation.

Our programme comprises a series of practical courses which are complemented by our navigation courses and other specialist short courses. Trainees might come on courses simply to increase their knowledge and confidence, or use them as a progression to the RYA/MCA Certificates of Competence which are recognised by maritime authorities worldwide.

The programme progresses through a series of courses designed to suit the level of the trainees, starting with “Helmsman Practical Course” and progressing to “Yachtmaster Offshore”.  The pre-course requirements that determine which course is appropriate for any trainee are shown on each course's page – for example,  no experience is required for a Helmsman course, but to come on a Yachtmaster course a candidate must have at least 50 days seatime, with 2,500 sea miles including at least 5 passages over 60 miles measured along the rhumb line from the port of departure to the destination, acting as skipper for at least two of these passages and including two which have involved overnight passages. 5 days experience as skipper. At least half this mileage and passages must be in tidal waters
